BALTIMORE HAS NEW CHAPTER OF VETERANS FOR PEACE:

Veterans for Peace National President David Cline to Visit City

To mark the formation of an Independent Baltimore chapter of Veterans for Peace, the organization's national president, David Cline, will be the principal speaker at the inaugral celebration. The event will be held at First Unitarian Church of Baltimore, Charles and Franklin Streets, from 7:00-8:30 PM on Wednesday, September 24, 2003. The public is invited at no charge.

Cline, a decorated, Vietnam combat vet and nationally recognized peace activist, will speak on the the organization's philosophy and current plans for action and will celebrate the advent of the Baltimore chapter, to be named in honor of the late Rev. Phil Berrigan. Previously, local veterans were part of the Maryland-Washington DC-Northern Virginia chapter. The advent of the new chapter marks the Baltimore veterans' intention "to take more vigorous action in our city and state and set the stage for that action in the coming period," according to a statement made to the press.
