Musicians from New Orleans coming to Baltimore for the show include: Little Freddie King, lost for almost two weeks following the hurricane before surfacing in Houston, who is bound for European festivals to promote a CD just out from Fat Possom; and the poets of the French Quarter, Slewfoot and Cary B, whose CD is entitled “Rainin’ in New Orleans.” Also opening for Robert Randolph are Guitar Wizard Cool John Fergugson and Abe Reid and the Spike Drivers from North Carolina.
The New Orleans Musicians Fund was created by Music Maker Relief Foundation, an established non-profit dedicated to helping the true pioneers and forgotten heroes of the Southern musical tradition gain recognition and meet their day to day needs by providing grant money for things like medicine, food, rent, and instruments. The New Orleans Musicians Fund will help rebuild lives. There are more than 5,000 musicians in New Orleans who need help.
