Schneider's lecture is part of the 2004 Milton S. Eisenhower Symposium, "Rebuilding America: Peace and Prosperity at What Price? A Symposium on a Struggling Domestic Legitimacy," a student-run series examining what the future holds for America.
Schneider has held his current post at CNN since 1991. His research and analysis into politics, the presidency and public opinion make him a prominent voice in the US political arena. He is a regular contributor to The Atlantic Monthly, the National Journal, and The Los Angeles Times.
Schneider co-authored The Confidence Gap: Business, Labor and Government in the Public Mind with Seymour Martin Lipset. He holds a bachelor's degree from Brandeis University and a doctorate in political science from Harvard University. Schneider was a professor of government at Harvard, a research fellow at the Hoover Institution of Stanford University as well as a fellow on International Affairs at the Council on Foreign Relations.
